Lovepedal Mini Valve is awesome thats about 140.00 Lovepedal cot 50 red also..

I have the satchurator sitting in front of me lol I bought it today.. My next pedal is going to be the Xotic BB Plus...The MI audio crunch box is a great buy for the cash.
It lives up to its name and more...
I almost picked up the Fulltone today but it was just a little more than I wanted to spend today. I'll probably pick it up next week sometime. I did buy a TS808 though and actually used it to push a '69 Princeton Reverb during a session tonight and it worked very well. The band was extremely happy with their guitar tone. I think I'm hooked on pedals now.

If you had to choose a commercially mass produced overdrive pedal to push a good tube amp what would you recommend?
an original Klon cenetaur is nice for that.....not cheap or mass produced

what kind of amp are we talking about?

Update the satchurator not to impressive to me.. The thing has no balls at all.
Its very wide like they did a stereo expansion circuit in it or something... What do you guys hear? I dont hear any mids on it, No Guts at all... The tone is ear piercing. the range is just not usable. It will work good for someone who cant play that good.. It will hide notes fine like a old ADA mp. no articulation..I thought the toneLab i had long ago sounded better..I have no beef with Vox they make some good stuff...I think Joe is on a mission to make everyone sound like shit...
I heard he's suing cold play...

I think is would excel at small amps or combos. Making them sound wide

One of the product specialists for Korg USA did extensive demoing of this unit before it was released at the studio that we both owned. The deal with the pedal is it is basically a modded Ds-1...Joe literally sent this pedal back to the drawing board 10-15 times before he approved it It is a pedal designed to sound similar to what he uses and likes. If you want to sound similar to Joe...this is the pedal you should check out. I have used it a couple of times...and I can assure you if the sound is harsh it's user error. It's a distortion pedal...and I've never used a guitar pedal you didn't have to tweak a bit to get the sound your desire. geez guys. It's not a bad pedal...I would certainly put it in the high end pedal range.

myself i dont want Satriani tone. I have my own tone. The pedal does not sound like Satriani tone...a pedal is only part of tone... It's in the fingers and technique
Pedals, amps, tubes. I have more pedal then you know I'm not going to fight die hard satriani fan here I ju

I dont care to have Satriani tone. I have my own tone...Tone is not in a pedal.
It's in your fingers,Pedals Amps,Tubes, and Technique etc. The pedal doesn't sound like Satriani tone anyway. If you think Satriani uses stock Peavey Satriani amps and this pedal your dreaming. He probably just uses the cover of the pedal.
I have plenty of high end pedals and some cheaper and this pedal wont touch them. Have you even turned the tone knob? it has one sweet spot go past 12 O'Clock and its harsh. I dont like the gain structure either. certainly wouldn't
record with it...we all saw the sales pitch video of how he went back and forth with the engineers with the pedal all the colors and chicken knobs. user errror my ass. the pedal sounds like ass.. no high end pedal more like a toy

Then don't buy one tough guy. I was just saying that personally, I think it's not a bad pedal. There over thousands of distortion pedals out there and I'm sure there's one for everyone. I was there during the final stages of development, and Satriani was for sure a part of it. I never saw any video. Didn't mean to get you all excited. For what it's worth, I prefer the fulltone stuff.

Ok your answer is :
I use monster cables, if i have one pedal that stands in the way of signal loss or tone change (being off) by just going through it, well it gets tossed.

So far the new Vox pedal and my wah does neither, however most boss pedal are gain suckers even in the off mode.
I'm serious about my tone/gain loss.

Remember this Vox Joe Satriani Satchurator is useless w/o you have a tube head/combo, sounds like sh*t with solid state.

It was mentioned earlier but the Fulltone OCD has a ton of tones in it and sounds fantastic. I found mine used for $70 and have been super happy with it. This thread went to hell pretty quickly so I'm not sure how many people will sift this far into it but that's my 2cents....

Yes I have the Wampler Plextortion and the Super Ecstasy. They are great pedals.
They are Fat and thick, the plex has alot of distortion where the Super XTC has less.. LovePedal distortion is different in a sense that its a clear distortion and articulate..The Wamplers are very brown sounding. either way I think you would
like it..

The New Tube Screamer reissues are nice.. I mod pedals so I put a true bypass in it and made a few other changes. I put 2 op-amps in it and pulled some junk out of it ...you could do it yourself. By its self it sounds good too ..You cant go wrong with Wampler though..sign up at the website and you get a discount..

(I just realized what an old thread this was, sorry, my god there is so little response on most guitar websites, anyway FYI)
At first I was excited to get the VOX JS series of pedals but after a while as much as I tried to like them it just wasn't the best sound I have had. Joe is one of my fav guitarists (except w Chickenfoot I cannot get into that band). Joe has moved more into his custom Marshall signature gains and not so much pedal gain anymore. He keeps a Satchurator on his board but I do not think he is using it. He recently dropped the ICE9 for the while Xiotic AC dual box. The Satchurator is basically a DS-1 circuit but better than the Boss. Many like the sound of those but never was right for me. I had the Keeley mod Boss which was a pretty good pedal but I have since just moved away from Boss. In fact I go out of my way to avoid them. Hate the buffer circuits.

JHS.com does a mod on the Satchurator if you like it they improve it quite a bit for like $50. Believe me, worth looking into. This guy even mods Keeley pedals!

I let the wah go because it was just not that great of a wah and did not like my rig much. The ICE 9 is a good drive but only with something else or into a gained channel, did not really have a pleasing tone by itself.

I have since gotten into Wampler and love these pedals. I got the Ecstasy Drive today and plan more each month. I also just love the high gain tones of Ibanez Tube King TK999HT real tube high gainer. Just sounds amazing. Voltage is stepped up to 100v internally. Even when I move more into the Wampler high gains I will keep the Ibanez as it is a consistantly killer sounding pedal on my rig.

For my opinion Wampler pedals are the way to go.
