It's an old SG. Mike's Guitars has it for sale here at the starting price, so if you want it, you should probably get it from them directly. I don't know the market for those very well, but I'd say that 2 grand probably isn't out of line for a decent condition guitar. It may be even be a very good price. Old SGs are great player guitars. I'd like one, but it isn't a priority now.

The one I'm looking at is just the same and he wants I think $1300, I know he needs cash now. Also it has the standard Pet Townsend mods, removed the bixbie or something and new tuners but the old parts come with the guitar...

I REALLY dont need this but I kind of hate my new strat, plus he wants to take mine as trade for $800 credit leaving just $700 for the Gibson.

decisions...decisions...

Got a link? You can PM it if you don't want to invite competition. I'm not shopping.

$1300 sounds like a good price, to me.

I have a 69 Junior with 1 p-90.. Looks like this guy got rid of the orginal bridge and put a bad ass on there.. So not original...

$1200 seems a bit steep for a modified one... but that's me. I paid $1200 for a '72 SG with a Bigsby 100% original.

I think that's a good price. If it feels good, then go for it. Don't worry about the bridge. The guitar hasn't been significantly modified. If it bothers you, you can find a period correct bridge. However, it's probably a better player guitar as it is.

He has the original parts. The seller got it from a well known collector.
But id snatch it up, I have a working strat now.

But its not a "Screaming deal" then I'm going to pass.
Not like I can use it for 5 months then sell for 1900$

Its just a "Fare deal" ?
I cant see any real rush to pull out the bank for me a ton of cash and I'm saving up for my first analog synth ($2500++)

Hmm.. decisions, decisions..

Plus I can get a "faded cherry SG for near $400++)

Hmm.. I would think year 1967 would be a collector but I guess not?

Collectible years are unpredictable... right now people may like the '60s but as they become less common people will want to snatch up the '70s.

Forget all that "collector" crap. Unless you have the money to assemble a real collection - i.e. one with a theme, or the best original examples of certain models - and want to promote and sell the collection, then I recommend buying your guitars purely on what brings joy to you as a player. If the `67 SG special does it for you, and your Strat doesn't, then it's the right swap. Otherwise, it's wrong no matter how you look at it.

Check it out from this angle - what good is owning a guitar for 10 years that you don't like playing, on the hopes that someone else will like it better and make it worth the expense? You'll just be out 10 years of owning a guitar that you could have liked better. How much is that worth to you?

I have collectible guitars, but I only keep them because I like playing them and I don't feel I could replace them easily. I know them as instruments. That's how they're valuable to me. I've passed on other guitars that I just didn't like as much. `70s 3-bolt Strats? Some are good, but not the ones I had. They're better off in the hands of someone who appreciates them, and I'm better off with the guitars that I did keep.

When I use the term "collector" I'm thinking of why ots not worth $50,000 being a 67

Additionally if it was worth $4,000 and I paid $1200 then thats what I was after.
But because its just a $1200 ~ $1500 guitar then I'm buying a run of the mill USA Gibson SG faded cherry. Besides I hate taking money out of the bank when I'm so close to buying an analog synth.

I keep my guitars for 10+ years and had thought I found a hidden classic but nope.
