combo amp direct out/bal out into an external power amp?

is it feasible to use the balanced line out from say my GK 210 backline, into like a 1000 watt external power amp? thus bypassing the 300w power amp section of the head? (this combo amp is basically the head with combo speakers that are able to be unplugged easily.)

yes you can plug a balanced line out into most power amps

I don't see why you would need to unplug the speakers though?

I hope you're not plugging the speaker output into the power amp!!!

no i would unplug the speakers so that they are not operating, and also was simply illustrating that the combo is essentially one which the head can power the internal speakers or go to external speakers kind of thing...

cool, just thought I'd check

I know of people who use those really little GK combos as preamps, then into power amps and into bigger cabinets

also don't try putting a more powerful power-amp into the combos speakers (again just checking)

also, remember that the DI output will probably output mic level as standard, not line level

its a balanced line out, and ive used it directly to my pci interface and it works fine, where as a mic wouldnt do anything really if i connected it to my interface, so even though level terms like this arent really my forte, im pretty sure its just normal line level out.
