If I were you I'd get a metal panel PTP 100 watter from the early 70's. If it has a hole or two drilled in the chassis the collectors won't want it and it'll be affordable. Buy a General Radio variac on ebay for fifty bucks and there's your master volume. At 80-90 volts it won't kill you and the tone will still be huge. The reissue stuff is a waste of time.

Agreed!! I'm just so broke I can't buy any vintage gear. I have to fake it with really good clones

I just found this... i don't know what your price range is.

I'm not expert on Vintage gear... especially amps so I can't say if this is a good or bad price. Might be worth researching.

hmm, seems kinda steep for a reissue box (an effed-up one, at that).... Also I seem to recall the 100 watt heads having 4 speaker outs, no?

I would buy an early 800. You just need to tweak it and it will sound as good if not
better than a plexi. Just don't crank the gain. The plexi is just not as gainy
very very similar to an 800 in most other aspects. Also 50watt heads sound much much better
on plexi or 800.

If you really want that sound and want to save some money, you should look into a old Traynor 100 head. A couple of different caps and you can have a Marshall killer. I currently own a early 70's Mark III combo that I had totally redone and it sounds amazing. Through a 4x12 with greenbacks or 30 watt Celestions, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and a vintage Marshall.

I'm also fond of the metal panel Marshall amps from 71' through 74'. These have more gain than their plexi counterparts, but sound equally as good, IMO.

Check out the Splawn Super Stock as well. It may be right up your alley.

Clips on youtube.
I have a 20 Watt Traynor I bought a couple years ago and I love it! I bought it because all the local bands were bringing in Crate POS amps and I got fed up with them blaming me for the bad guitar sound. So I went and tried out about 10 different amps and this little guy is just amazing. And if you're looking for Punk Rock tone than this is perfect. Plus the clean channel is beautiful, especially if you have a tele, it's just golden.
