My nephew has an Epi LP and has never changed the strings. I would like to get him a set without changing the string size. Anyone recall what size strings are stock?

Unless it has changed, I believe they are all stocked with 9's. That said, buy him a set of 10's, too. The short neck scale is much better suited to a slightly heavier set of strings.

I think your right about the short scale necks. I've been playing strats for so long that I almost forgot how easy it is to bend the strings on LPs. With 10s he should have an easier time keeping his chords in place.
