Gibson Les Paul Baritone TONE!!

I've got a Gibson Les Paul Studio Baritone. I love how it plays and feels, but the stock pickups weren't as edgy as the EMG's I had in my old Schecters, so I switched em out with the Zakk Wylde set (81 bridge/ 85 neck). It is still a little dark though and doesn't cut through like I want it too. ..Not as responsive either. I know the baritone scale length and bulk of the Les Paul is gonna make the tone dark, but I need suggestions on maybe a different pickup set that would make the Les Paul really scream. Any ideas?

An EMG 81 is a little dark? I don't know of any pickup that would be any brighter. What kind of amp are you using? When was the last time you changed the tubes? Do you have any outboard gear (pedals, rack gear, etc...) that could be robbing you of tone?
