New Suhr Badger 30 Demo

Peter Thorn once again goes beyond the call of duty to demo
John Suhr's new Badger 30 Combo.

This amp with 2XEL34's and built in power scaling may be the perfect
bedroom to bar alternative.

Thanks Pete!

Sounds pretty damn good. That would definitely something I'd want on the studio.

I've been waiting for this video. The last one Pete did of the 18w Badger really showed how great an amp it is, and boy, can that guy play guitar!

Checking it out now.

Pete explains in his TGP thread that the Strat cleans Hendrix stuff
is through the open back 4X12 to the left loaded with 4X Celestion Blues.

The overdrive tones are through the /13 closed back 2X12 cab loaded with greenbacks.

This is the first demo I've seen showing a well designed power scaling section in action.
Note that he lowers the gain along with the power control to keep the tone the same and to avoid unwanted clipping.
Since the amp is still being driven hard, it really shows how the overall tone and responsiveness remains the same while only the volume decreases.

I just pulled up the 2008 retail price list from the Suhr web page.

The 30w Badger sounds the way I expected - f'n great! I'm hearing a bigger sounding amp than the 18w version, but very similar. It would be a luxury to have the cab selection Pete has!

John Suhr's one smart guy, he picked a caliber player like Pete Thorn to make a clip of it. I'm convinced that guy can make anything sound amazing, but there's no doubt about it - John obviously did his homework when he designed the Badger 30.

I emailed Suhr trying to get the weight of the Badger 30 head and
just curious about back order status.

The 30 head weighs about 28 pounds, not bad at all.

If you want one, they are already in back order expecting about
a 2 1/2 month wait.
