TC Electronic Nova - G-System's lil brother with analogue overdrive... got me thinkin

Nova System - sorry for cross posting (I put thi in new products, but it is a gtr FX unit so including it here too!

This has really got me thinking. Was about to get a G-System but this looks great (needless to say it doesn't have the same routing options.... but nevertheless great package at 1/2 the price.

Features

* NDT™ - Nova Drive Technology: All-analog programmable
overdrive and distortion circuit under preset and expression control.

* 6 effect blocks taken straight from G-System:
- Compression
- EQ + Noise Gate
- Modulation
- Pitch
- Delay
- Reverb

* 30 factory and 60 user presets
* Two footswitch layouts: preset and pedal
* Hi-Z and balanced input + balanced stereo outputs
* Optional G-Switch for added control

Can't really tell how well-protected the controls are from the piccies/flash animation

looks interesting. I'm always a bit skeptical on the longevity of those digital boxes as far as their ruggedness. . . I think I'd still want a carl martin quattro even though it does far less.

this is a mental hump I'm sure - i do really dig TC effects. if you get it, report back. There is something to be said about a good "all-in-one" pedal if it actually works good . . .

I am psyched about the analog/digital technology. it just makes sense. I'm surprised it has taken this long for someone to do it in a pedal package like this . . .

Well after much to-ing and fro-ing and reading the mega thread on thegearpage.net I went for it.

G-system is just physically too big for me - I'll get it when I play stadiums (stadia?) The Nova is nice and compact

Super piece of gear - shame you can't use an expression pedal and the TC "extra flexibility" pedal whatever its called.

Vibrato is lovely

Phaser is good but you can tell its not analogue - actually I need to fiddle with this some more

Delays are lovely

Whammy is smooth (slight delay as usual)

(digital) Comp is very transparent which is fine for me

Tap tempo controls the modulation fx speed thumbsupthumbsupthumbsup

There's only 1 controller input jack... I'm more interested in the expression pedal anyway, but they gave me a good deal on the other pedal too, so its quids in thumbsup

Basically this means I have to use bank up/down between songs for different patches - no biggie.

You can only have 1 modulation or pitch shift at one time so you can't have phaser + chorus, or whammy + detune together but really I can't imagine needing that.

The default mode is stomp box mode (i.e. switching on/off individual FX in a patch - that's good enough for me.

FX are top notch -

Analogue overdrive/distortion is a great bonus for when I just wanna plug in to the front end of an amp.

The variable level boost function is a great idea for fills and solos

Once I've bought my amp I will be able to switch channels and patches via midi on this thing

it´s an old thread , but I like to add something

Bought the novasystem today. Will bring it back.

It sounds good on the anaolg part. everything else is a bit hyped in the higher ends of the sound.

The AD/DA converters are a bit aggressiv. Compared with the true bypass sound of my guitars the NOVA shows only prosumer results.

The original sound of a good guitar will be washed out through the Nova. Delays are not good enough. tape oder analog delays are simulated pretty poor. This might be ok on stage , but it is unusable in a studio environment.
