Link Wray Delay Pedal

Hi GS,

I'm interested in obtaining a delay pedal or unit that was similar or identical to what Link Wray used for Ace of Spades and other 'golden' hits.

Anybody know?

I don't know exactly what was used, but any good tape unit and/or outboard reverb will get you there. And by "good" I mean old with lots of character.

What tape delay units were available in the 60's?

I've played with the Echoplex a bit. Maybe it was the model, but it doesn't feel like it really does much of a short delay. Otherwise, I'd assume the Maestro.

the old echoplex has a record level that is controlled by a screw, and they are usually too hot. Also, check out orbitz, he restores them and they sound like God.

Thanks 84k, I actually have an Echoplex tech in my very room.

He's actually designed a plugin designed with a very organic quality called the Echolux. We're hoping to release it in the next month or so.

I'll mention the too hot thing, maybe he could mod one for me. From what I've heard I tend to like the solid state models more. The tube ones are...rather rickety IMO.

Funny, I didn't know how good his plugin sounded cuz I never heard an Echoplex. Then he brought one in to repair, and I was like. Oh wow, so this is like the plugin you made.

That's when I was rather turned on by the idea. Now I'm stoked to actually be part of releasing something.

He also is going to be releasing a leslie speaker emulator called the Lezlux.

Anyway, non-sequitur. Thanks all the same!
