Line 6 M13 Pedalboard

Line 6 - Stompbox Modelers

Looks like it's going to retail for $499.

This is the best thing Line 6 has done since they started. This is all I've ever wanted them to make in the first place. There is even a looper.

WOW.

Line 6 is stepping it up, I have been wanting something like this for a while....I might have to look into it. Would be awesome for rehearsing and maybe some small gigs. I really want to know when its coming out so I can try it out with my setup.

Meh... the looper, whilst has more features than the DL4 doesn't have enough for me to consider replacing other gear in my looping rig.

I love the Echo Pro for what it does but really hate the distortion modelling in their pedals.

since i don't have a looper (but have been looking into getting one recently) this seems perfect for what i want....

i love delay. i have 4 delay pedals on my board at the moment... but i like the idea of having patches and scenes that i can instantly recall instead of bending down to change delay times, etc between songs.... and using tap tempo when the guitar starts the song is hit and miss unless you have a click in-ear, IME.

line 6's synth modeler... i forget the model (FM4?) is awesome. i've had a guy come to my place a few times that had one and i can see using one via reamp on a multitude of sources like vocals and synths.

but anyway, this board has ALL the line 6 delays, ALL the chorus/mod fx, ALL the synth fx, AND ALL the distortion fx like fuzz (even though they SUCK and i hate L6 distortions, i stick to me amps n' russian big muff!)

to me, this pedalboard represents what line 6 is good at: FX and also representative of what they suck at: NO AMP MODELS

it's about time.

p.s. different retailers will get them at different times... but most places i've seen say they are starting to ship mid-april

Looks interesting, and at the size of 2 DL4s, it's smaller than it looks.

For $500, don't you think they could have sprung for an IEC power cord instead of the dreaded wall wart/lump thing? Unless you can power it like a line 6 DL4 with a Pedal Power...

$500 I could afford a ton of analog effects!
Even some nice rack Ibanez vintage stuff!

already have all that... and i hate taking it out on the road...

this is just way faster and compact and repeatable... i could get a replacement in any city at any gc if it were to ever break (god forbid Line 6 switches breaking!!!!)

It would have been super useful to me if it also had channel switching outputs for amps.
That would remove my ground control system and my rack.

Less crap to lug

would be cool for rehearsals and live gigs but I wouldn't let any L6 ad/da conversion anywhere near a recording session.

yeah, $500 is way too steep. I have way less invested in gear and I have all the sounds I need.

a little off topic, but i've wanted line 6 to come out w/ a small (perhaps watered down) version of the mm/dly/and filter pedals in the size of one of those mm4's. I wish these mod companies would realize there are some people who really don;t dig the dist crap, but want the cool fx. pedal board real estate is premium.

Hey guys, as some of you know I work for Line 6. Lemme say that even if you don't dig the distortion models, you can use all the other effects in any combination. 12 delays at once... 12 mods at once, or any possibility you can think of. I personally like the Tube Overdrive and Classic Dist (Rat model) on there. It's pretty open ended!

Steve, the M13 is just a tad bigger than 2 MM4's really.

I think the effects sound great, and I'm not much of a pedal junkie since the majority of stuff out there is pretty much the same to me with only a few standouts. But that's just me. I just don't use a lot of fancy stuff these days.

If you get a chance to demo one in the stores, some of the factory scenes are really good! "Call the Police" and "Over The Edge" standout for me. The "AZ Still Brings It" is actually my factory scene they used. I tried to setup some of the fx I use in my rig on there and have sort of a real world scene in there rather than have some over the top demo sounds. There's plenty other over the top scenes in there.

Most all in one pedals, like the GT-10 and so on, run $500 as well. So there right there in the price range that similar pedals are.

The DM4 is mono in, mono out. The M13 is stereo in, stereo out, like the DL4, MM4, and FM4. Does anyone know if the distortion models in the M13 are stereo? I'm thinking about getting the M13 for both guitar fx and keyboard fx. But if the distortion is mono I might skip it.

UPDATE: I checked the manual online. It's not clear about all the fx that are mono, but clearly some, if not all, of the distortions are mono. One of the cool things about the M13 is the stereo fx loop, and the flexibility to assign the location of the loop to any point among the 4 fx in the M13. So you can use it as two completely independent fx devices, running 2 modules each, or splitting it 1 > 3. Great for two separate keyboards. But I wish the distortions were stereo.

Another question. Does anyone know if the M13 fixes the problem that the DL4 has with volume drop when engaged? I've seen a number of people discuss the DL4 volume issue on other forums, so I'm sure I'm not the only one who has that problem. But I've seen people say they have the same problem with the MM4, and my MM4 is fine, no volume drop.

Maybe Line 6 fixed it in the M13?

I have this problem with my MM4. But only in my mesa amp. I use it in the Effects loop and no matter how I set the level of the loop I can't get the non effect volume level to match. However when I run it into the loop on my JCM800 the levels are fine. I can't figure out why.

Just in case anyone wants to know, I talked to Line 6 and they said that the next revision for the M13 will have addressed the volume drop and volume boost problems that people were experiencing. That firmware version should be out by the fall. I found that info on the Line 6 forum and then called them to verify.
