I swapped the pups in my 5120 LTD for genuine filtertrons (pup surrounds need to be changed and a bracket needs to be fabricated in order to make them fit properly)...The guitar sounds much more like a high dollar Gretsch. Check out TV Jones website, they offer a variety of options including ones that don't involve body modification, and they all sound good!
