Bad Cat Hot Cat 100R Custom Shop-clippage

Took me forever to get this much, but had a good time overcoming technophobia.

While my playing is a tribute to StSanders Shreds overdubs, I'm attempting to demonstrate how well the amp cleans up just from the attack.

No volume knob adjustment except for the end fade.

Just added another clip using my '93 Strat Plus ( Gold Lace Sensors )
Mid and Bridge PU. Hot Cat 100R Clean Channel, tone 7:00, Volume @ 1:00, amp reverb @ 11:00

I like the Ibanez clip.....sounds crisper than the Strat.

That amp cab puts out some serious sounds behind the Cat.

Well the Strat Plus can sound absolutely wicked through the OD channel too, getting all those overtones in a different flavor.

What gets most people who've heard this set-up up close is the amount of highs
that come through even though I'm using the SVT 8X10 with the original CTS AlNiCo's.

The depth of the cabinet gives me all kinds of bottom, far more than the clips indicate.

Didn't you get that wicked custom Vintone cab a while back?

Wait a minute............OK, here we go......

Love to hear the Ibanez through that........unless, of course, you are using to serve coffee on for your important guests.

I'll have to try something through the Vintone 2X12.

The hard stuff can be blistering through the Vintone due to the efficiency of
the speakers. If you can imagine, the 2X12 is 1/3 louder than the SVT 8X10 cab
and the SVT cab actually gives me the bottom whomp missing from the open back 2X12.

Trying to get one of my buddies to come over so you can hear a real guitar player
through this set-up.

Well I managed to try some tracking with the Hot Cat 100R through my Vintone 2X12
using my new '85 Les Paul Studio Standard.

AT4050 (-10), DAV BG-1 (pad engaged) , line in to PMIO

SoundClick artist: North Crest Music - page with MP3 music downloads

No EQ, comp or anything, played through the clean channel at about 1:00 volume.

Tone on the second notch up from the bottom.
Slight Reverb on 11:00

Again you hear how responsive the amp is to attack. but the OD at this volume
setting goes into more of a crunch than in the OD channel.

Playing is rough as usual.

My ear is toast, but got something down at least.

I like this tone the best of the three samples you've posted.....but then with this LP/Cat/Vintone combo you get a bit of a head start over the rest of us on this long road to Guitar Tone Heaven.

I'm sure things would sound better if I could actually play the guitar.

I'm already suffering from this small amount of exposure and what's left of my
hearing can't take the punishment.

It's frustrating because I can't get anything worthwhile done without over exposure
to sound.

I messed around some more this morning and while I didn't record anything, I did find that the SVT cab brings out the best in my Ibanez hollowbody driving it harder while still being able to favorably control feedback.

The added power and clarity of the Vintone cab does better with the solid body LP and Strat.

Even so, I can play through the SVT with balls to the walls tones at a comfortable volume, so both cabs have their merit.

Took a few shots of the rig and recorded some new clips.

Also have some vids to load up to YouTube, but I'm cursed by 2.6kb dial-up so it'll
take a while.

I like that Ibanez....reminds me of my Joe Pass Epi which I NEVER should have sold.

Ah, but life is just a carousel.......and what goes around comes back around.
