Jimmy Eat World Guitar Sounds w/Orange RV50?

Hey all,

My band is currently in the studio and we have been messing around with guitar sounds for a little while. We've decided that we really dig the guitar sounds on Most Jimmy Eat World albums-both distorted and clean. We especially like the distorted guitar sounds on Track 1 (Bleed American) and Track 8 (Get it Faster) on the album Bleed American.

Now, I know they used a Vox ac-30 with the Blue Alnicos for the clean and slightly crunchy sounds but I'm not sure what they used for the distorted sounds. I've emailed the producer for the album and he said that he could not remember the specific amp/cab combo they used. Does anyone happen to know what they used on that album?

Also we are using an Orange RV50 combo and trying to get a similar slight crunchy sound to teh AC30 but I feel like the stock vintage 30's in the combo break up a little too easily around the low end. Anyone have suggestions for alternate speakers? I will probably end up purchasing an Avatar 2X12 to supplement the combo with a different set of speakers.

Thanks for any help you can give!!!
