Any used analog delay pedals around $100 worth having?

I love my BOSS DD-3 & DD-6, but they seem to be missing something. I think I want to experiment with an analog delay pedal unit, but don't want to blow a wad of cash on one.

Anybody able to recommend one worth having, in the ballpark of $100 used ?

Ibanez AD-9. Reissues go for about $130 new. Great smear, dark, excellent for blending. An acquired taste.

Visual Sound H20's echo is digital and not very adjustable but it is nice and round and warm.

ibanez ad9 reissue is pretty ok and convienient for 100 used. (if) you can find an original korg signal delay it should be around 150 and is absolutely dark and gorgeous with feedback from hell, and it switches from guitar to line level (great on vocal and snare tracks as well as guitar). it is not a pedal and is not pretty to look at... but is a steal.

MXR Distortion+. My favorite all time pedal.

Though not a pedal, the Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer is a killer box. My was a pedal, I took it out its plug-into-guitar box and put into a foot box.

You've recorded with it? Any hiss or hum introduced?

Orig ibanez ad9. 100-ish on eBay. Maybe the reissue is great too never heard. But the ad9 is loved and copied for a reason. It's better than the carbon, but I have both and using the ad9 into the carbon is loads of fun!!!!!! The carbon repeats are trashy and so are the ad9s but somehow in a better way

Some of the cheaper EHX units sit in your range. They've got the same chips but as you go down you lose some features. Still, being able to do warble, filtered delays,

Memory Toy is under your budget, but I'd go the extra 20 bucks over for the Memory Boy. EHX.com | Memory Boy - Analog Delay with Chorus/Vibrato | Electro-Harmonix

I use the CC a lot. It's a nice pedal. You can open it up and tweak the modulation setting if you want, but I prefer that to be pretty subtle. I switch between that and the Aqua Puss, which is beautiful for almost the opposite reasons as the CC.

I would humbly suggest that any used analog delay pedals around $100 are worth having!

Analog delays are a timeless classic,

no thread is too old to talk about them in. everything from ping pong to looooooooooooong delay...

some of the delay times on these are so long you can use them as beat loopers and fade out into pitch bend oblivion, it's awesome...

keep shinin

i've used tons of delays over the years, rack and pedal, digital and analog, tape delays, etc., and i was surprised how great the new Carbon Copy pedals sound. For the price, everyone should own one (or two!).

Cool mod effect also. Kinda like built in and optional chorus.
Bear in mind also it does not have the headroom for keyboards. Had to use a trusty Boss DD5 for that one!

Arion SAD1. My personal favorite analog delay. (Do NOT buy the SAD3, though; you'll be disappointed.)
MXR Carbon Copy is great.
BBE Two Timer is good so long as you don't need it to self-oscillate.
DOD FX90 and FX96 are decent units.
And there are some Yamaha half-rack units that are worth looking into.

+1 Carbon Copy. Use it on Moog Voyager. Very nice.
MXR Distortion pedal is nice too and the MXR phaser is great too.
Guess I just like MXR pedals....

I sold my Diamond Memory Lane II and bought 4 MXR carbon copies. I have two on my main board, and two on my backup. You honestly cannot beat them for the money.

If it's the sound you're after and not the cachet of real BBD chips, the PT2399 based delays (ever since the Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay was revealed to be PT2399) have a very analog sound. You can buy the Rogue for $25 at times, and the Joyo for a little more.

For true BBD delays, you're going to pay a little more :-) The Danelectro is around $50, the Behringer about the same, First Act made one that they sold thru Toys-R-Us that even had some cool mods at The Gear Page. Seymour Duncan makes a hybrid: digital delay followed by an MN3008 so you can get the sound of analog, but the 1.5 seconds of digital, with tap tempo and trails... They're selling them for $79.95 at GC if you can find one...

Well, I can steer you away from one. I picked up one of the newer EH Memory Toys which are in your price range and it quit on me after 2 weeks. I sent it to EH under warranty, it came back and in another two weeks it was dead again. That was it....into the trash and replaced with a CMATMODS Deeeelay which has been totally reliable and sounds terrific.
