Thread Starter | Looking for a do some of it live practice/gig tube amp head between $500-$800
I am in search of a decent sounding tube amp/head between 30 to 50 watts. Maybe a little extra headroom, so it can take pedals easy. I have a peavey classic thirty, however it doesn't like my pedals very much. The peavey amp sounds great for some stuff, however I want a different, little more dirty, and grind if possible. We are doing old country, to blues, to 80's-90's rock/metal. The Thirty is good for that old blues/country, now the new amp for a modern kind of sound, light overdrive to mean overdrive to heavy... Is it out there? I have a modded Dr. Z 6545 that I love, however it doesn't go to the rehearsal hall. I need this amp for the rehearsal hall. I just need a head/amp. I have the cabs. The guitars I use are Gibson LP, Strat, Ibanez Jem Steve Vai model, Tele, Jackson, all guitars sound great from the good years they were made. Please help me narrow the margin of brands to look into for this price...professional sound at a reasonable price. Thanks.

I don't know how I would feel about having my tits ripped off... but the prosonics are nice.

HAHA you feel backward into a bunch of prosonic fanboys. I really like mine, and for the price you can pick one up used it crime not to buy one. Mine is scary loud, will go from 30-60 watts, though Im not sure I can hear a descerible volume difference, definate tone difference though as it uses different rectifiers.

Thanks so far... I have found the Tiny Terror by Orange. It is only $549 with all class A tube. They say even though it's rated at 15 watts w/ a switch to go to 7 watts, at 15 watts it is underated and can keep up with most 30 watt amps. I haven't heard it yet, however I have heard nothing but good things about it. This amp has headroom, so it can take pedals, and it is versatile. I will have to pay a visit to the closest Orange dealer to hear one. Wonder if anyone has had experience with this amp. Please post if you have played through this Tiny Terror amp, thanks. I don't know how long it has been on the market. We are a very dynamic band, we don't need that much volume, 30 watts is almost too much. I wouldn't go over 30 watts tube where we rehearse. Plus, I like opening up an amp and getting that nice, singing sweet-spot saturation...without ripping our tits off : )
