Broken Cabs

Okay guys so i have an old marshall jcm 900 1960a slant cab that i bought from a dude for 300 bucks however it's starting to short out and some speakers don't work and some do and visaversa does anyone know how to fix this?

Pull the back off it and check out the wiring.
More than likely you just need to solder the input socket.
If there is any speaker damage, this will become apparent after the fact.

Try not to use your tube amp with it until you do this.
It is extremely unwise to have a tube amp running without having a working speaker box attached to it. Basically you will fry the amps output transformer.

okay.... sweet. Well ha ha i guess i'll have to take my head in cause i played a show the other night on my marshall jvm and borrowed a working cab and i was crankin it with my master like at 9 and i could barely hear myself . so yeah...

and also i'm looking for a new cab and i've been looking at avatar cabs but i don't know much about speakers and all i know is that i like greenbacks but does anyone know about these hellatone things?

oh and how would you go about replacing somthing like the input on this style of cab?

Yikes... yes, you really don't want to have a tube amp running without a cab, or a broken one.
Get it checked.

I am a simple creature- greenbacks or V30's are fine for me.
I use Marshalls simply because I have always used them and they work.
I often buy empty cabs and buy new speakers for them.
I am sure there are a bunch of other cabs they work fine.
You CAN overthink this though. :-)

well i'm hoping to fix the cab and i do believe it is the inputs and the cuircut board. should i just take it in or just try to fix it myself.

That is your decision to make.
I don't know how much you know.

With very basic electronics knowledge (and the right parts/tools) it is possible to fix this in about an hour (or less) but if you've never done any electronics work before- it is not going to be practical for me to step you through it.
