(Still) Looking for good tech repair/service in SF Bay Area

[I recently posted this question in the general "So much gear..." forum, but I got no replies, so I'm trying here]

Hello people of the "guitar,bass,amps etc" forum.

I am looking for your recommendations for reputable, honest, knowledgeable and affordable tech where I can send my tube guitar amp and other audio goodies for maintenance. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, so I'd appreciate local references only.

Thanks a lot in advance,
++aldo

Still looking for a good repair shop

Hello Again,

Forgive the bump (after two years), but I am still looking for a good repair shop to take my Marshall.

I have tried Skip Simmons (near Sacramento) and Pro Audio Repair (in San Francisco), but am still looking for the perfect shop (knowledgeable, fast and reasonably priced). Skip knew his stuff and was fast and reasonable, but he isn't comfortable with integrated designs. PAR were good, but the repair took longer than I wanted.

Just got off the phone with L&M in Daly City (near the Cow Palace). Has anybody done business with them?

Thanks for any advice/references/recommendations,
++aldo

I used king amplification in Santa Clara/San Jose to install power scaling on one of my amps. It took a while but I think that was because they were waiting on parts

???? Great Amp Repair around Boston MA for a non reissue 1965 super reverb

Hello,

I need a true guru to take a look at my 1965 super reverb amp and convert its from a two prong ac chord to a three prong. Please send me any ideas/shops as I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Hi Walter,
I don't know any shops near where you live, but Skip Simmons (in the SF Bay Area) knows and loves vintage amps. Maybe you can ship it....

Cheers,
++aldo

Great amp, but any reasonably qualified tech can do this. Not hard, and the directions are on the web if you feel you need to print them out and bring with.

I use Craig at Powerage in Oakland. Reasonable prices and reasonable turnaround for an amp tech...no problems ever.

You can find him on Yelp.

Thanks for the tip. I ended up going to L&M in Daly City (straight across the Cow Place on Geneva Ave.).

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Cheers,
