Thread Starter | MArshall JMP mk II 100 watt MV head - AWESOME!
I just played through one of these 2 input heads yesterday at a rehearsal studio. I have no idea if it was modded or not, but if that's how it sounds stock stike stike stike wow What an exhilarating tone! Couldn't resist cranking it! Lovely cleans and OD tones Fat and not shrill/toppy at all. It was plugged into a Simms Watts straight-fronted 4 x 12... Wish I knew what speakers were in it --- Fanes possibly? Mind you... here's a link to a cab with Celestion Rola G12H30s. Simms-watts Guitar Speaker Cabinets

that's one of my favourite amps ever - I prefer the 50watt but either will do.

I have a '76 JMP 100 Super Lead that's been set up to run a pair of KT88's. Damn good amp. I think the JCM800's popularity is keeping the price down on old JMP's. |

Well, as "master volume" Marshall amps go, there's no comparison. This leaves the 800 trailing waaay behind, and I've tried many. (Most satisfying was a 100 watt 2 x 12 combo --- I concede that was a great amp) So you have a 100 watt Super Lead, eh? Must be seriously loud before you get distortion What cab do you use, and do you use an attenuator? |

I've got one made in 81. Rich, rich harmonics and punchy low end. I still use it for shows and recording but rarely play it during practice anymore due to volume. I think this is one of the most underated amps ever. Years ago I had a friend who had a brand new marshall jcm 900 (a few weeks old). It was his pride and joy. We had a shootout (my tolex, even back then, was grey black with age and wear and tear and the marshall logo had long since broken off - not mint). He offered me an even trade. I declined. One of my better decisions. |
