The RMC Picture wah is a favorite for the classic vibe. The Fulltone has a bit wider throw, but can be preferred in certain situations because of that.

The vision wah is stupidly expensive (like over 400USD!), but it is more flexible than any other wah, it's true bypass, and it's a switchless wah. It's seriously amazing. I hate having to try 3 times to get a wah to activate. As soon as I have the money, one will be on my pedalboard. And, it's a carbon-fibre looking pedal. totally different than all the other vox-style wahs.

check out the zvex wah probe for its unique system of control; it comes from studio use, or at least its studio inspired. it also sounds amazing. also, if oyu can find/afford one, the mutron vol-wah is unique yet classic. its control is also amazing.l |

Vox McCoy reissue. I really like the operation of the Vai Bad Horsie model- being able to sweep the tone from off to low to high is so much better. So much so that I use an external true bypass switch on the wha and leave it permanently on.

I have a lovely old vox (1967), but don't take it on the road, strictly for the studio... I much prefer the old vox sound to the crybaby sound - more agression and spit in the mids. I've had all the wah's on the list, the only ones I have kept are the Fulltone and the RMC, but I never use the fulltone. For me it's the RMC all the way and it sounds very similar to my old vox. I found the vision sounded just ok when AB'd with the others, but was just too polite, but it was a nightmare in use - the on/off switch was almost impossible to get right, I couldn't get the pedal to feel right under my foot, and with so many switches, I was contantly tweaking it to sound better. It never matched up to the fulltone or the RMC. The Fulltone is very cool, I just prefer the traditional feel of the vox/crybaby pedal chassis, and I found its longer sweep of little use. (BTW, my RMC is the Real McCoy Custom). Hope that helps. |

the best WAH you can buy now is the Dunlop DCR rack mount wah. After that, I would go Colorsound's new spot on reissue. Then the RMC 3 by Teese. |

Haven't tried the Buddha but their amps are amazing... I use the Dunlop 535Q. It has a wide range of sounds which I like. A lot of people try it and dismiss it too quickly, you have to spend some time getting to know it because it has so many different sounds. You can get watery phasey kind of wahs where it's not too focused or you change the settings and get pretty good quack too. You can adjust sweep, width of Q, and depth. So between tweaking the three there are a lot of different sounds. I would venture to guess that most of the other Wahs are probably better for their particular sound but I need versatility. When playing funk I want some wucka wucka, but when I'm jamming with a DJ I want to be able to dial in some less intense sweeps, that ripple through the chords. I also like to be able to do the Hendrix thing on lead for a blues/rock gig. I find I can do all of those and more with this pedal. But then again I haven't tried the Buddha or the rackmount Dunlop. Use your ears and try all of them, but don't dismiss this one too quickly. |

any more wahs? ![]() Im looking for ye olde shit hot wah - none of this push the pedal dunlop crap - true bypass, touch activated and not too $$ (ie not 500$) Id actually like the rainy day dream all day kinda wah sound but I guess a lot of people say that and get punched. |

I love the sound of the Budda Wah. The only wah that has ever made my face involuntarily contort. Great stuff. Cory Spotts |

I like the 535Q and prefer it than more expensive. The problem is that it is not true bypass, so when not in use it is disconnected or in parallel with Keeley looper bypass pedal. |

I'm a big fan of the original 535 (not the Q version). If you need ONE wah pedal, IMO, that's the one to get. The fasel inductors (yellow OR red) are NOT true bypass, though. |

I like the Vox wah. It has kind of an evil tonality to it, not the standard porn movie soundtrack sound.

I had/have a Morley Bad Horsie 2. It just died on me...There is some Circuitry problem. It does not respond when I step on it...and no one seems to be repairing electronics... So I guess I have to get a new wah...which wah pedal do you guys think is a good substitue for the Morley? Thanks much |

| I'm trying to decide between this Area 51 and the Fulltone Clyde. Unfortunately, I don't see how I could try them out before I buy. I may just have to buy one and send it back if I don't like it. I guess the issue with that is I'll probably end up liking the first one I get. Oh wait, I'm just being stupid here. I should just get both and stop worrying about it.

I've used an old Foxx wah a couple of times. They're rare though. I can send you a sound sample if you need one. They come with felt on the outside too.
