For a small stompbox my favorite by far is the Empress Tremolo. I've been using one for a while, but I think I may sell it after a moogerfooger discovery I made last night with the MP201 foot controller and MF102 Ring Modulator. Tap Tempo Moog Tremolo: CV out from the MP201 into the Ringmods 'Carrier In' and you instantly have midi sync'd/tap tempo tremolo, with lfo of choice!!! Also in expression mode you can sweep the lfo manually, controlling the speed and depth at the same time. The mp201's squarewave has a significant volume drop used in this manner, but the others work great, with my favorite being the saw and ramp lfo's. The MP201 is such a killer pedal/controller! If by gating some of the lfo's I can create rythmic patterns similar to those available in the Empress Trem, then I'll be selling it and freeing up some pedalboard space for sure. |

Meh...back in the early 80's I had the opportunity to play through the tremolo pedal that Lou Giordano designed & built for Roger Miller (Mission Of Burma). That thing would devour your GigFX Chopper for lunch, then shit out tiny Demeter Tremulators and eat those for lunch. I don't think Lou ever made these in any quantities, but they were ostensibly released under his Vacuum Electronics marque. Or maybe that pedal was a one-off and the marque was a vanity thing... | |

I recommend getting something that allows you to tap the tempo. When recording it was real tough to record tremolo until we got some Line 6 pedal that had a tap function. I would tell you which one it was it's just that I don't know. It may not be better than some of the others listed anyhow. I just think the tap is a really important and useful function.

It got stolen with a bunch of gear and then I got the Empress Tap Tremolo. It's almost three times the price, but almost three times cooler.

The Moogerfooger ring modulator does a very nice tremolo as well. I've modded it so that speed can be selected from a remote switch: Doei! ® Faizz |

I really like my Supa-Trem because of its ease of use in a live situation - you can switch between two speeds or change the shape from hard to soft with footswitches, and the knobs themselves are oversized and pretty easy to turn with your feet.

| Gear addict | I've been using the fulltone for over a year now. It's very musical sounding. Fav of all the ones I tried.

Have played Demeter, Dunlop, Line 6, and others but continue to run only one on my pedal board, and that's an older Boss PN-2 -- NOT the same as the new Boss tremolos. Always end up liking the PN-2 better than anything else I've tried... Even bought a second as a backup when I had a chance, because they don't make them anymore... A PN-2's for sale right now on E-bay: BOSS PN-2 Tremolo Pan NEAR MINT PN2 vibrato - eBay (item 220400097488 end time Apr-27-09 19:22:42 PDT) |

Forgot to mention in previous post that the Guyatone tube trem (the FLIP) is also great... the other guitar player in a band I'm in uses it and it's fat and all good...

On the cheap you could try Marshall`s Vibratrem. Quite effective.
My Tremolo kicks ALL your Trems' butts!!!!! (wait, do Tremolos indeed have asses?!?!).....anyhow....for a gigging musician.....NO OTHER...but the GigFX Chopper.....yeah, just stop this thread now....move on..... KO! 10 count! Again, if you're a GIGGING in the real world, you don't have the time to be adjusting your trem for each song. End Quote: Different folks-different strokes. I like adjusting knobs onstage. I like the big knobs on the Fulltone and often bend down to move them. I'm a very analog kind of guy, not that I don't like digitial, but like to play it like an instrument.... I don't like tap features all that much. I realize I'm not the norm. I take a tape delay to every gig and adjust after a lot of songs. Works for my style. I think we live in a great time where there are so many products that offer so many varieties to accommodate tone tastes as well as working styles. |

EHX Pulsar is what i use... it sounds really good and mine is actually broken right now... because i used it a lot, everyone always asks me what kind of tremolo i use... sounds great on a rhodes as well.. its really adjustable and its not as noisy as some others ive played before... but noisy can be pretty cool too...

I might trade my dual rectifier tremoverb which has a really warm tremolo in it for another amp. Do you think its tremolo is replacable with an effect pedal? A tube one maybe? |
