4x10 Cabinets?

I've been thinking of putting together a 4x10 cabinet (Guitar) lately as I've always been fond of 2x10 combos. Does anyone have any 10" speaker cab experiences they might be willing to bestow upon me. Success stories? What do you like/don't like?

Thanks,
C

I had an Ampeg VT40 combo and the 4 x 10 were very cool and VERY loud.
I think it had eminence speakers. A friend swears by the Blues deville 4 x 10 too.

I probably prefer 12" speakers just, but there is something slightly tighter about 10" that is nice.

I've been running my vintage Ampeg SVT flat back 8X10 cabinet as a hold over with my
Bad Cat 100R and if it weren't for the weight and portability factor, I don't really
need to change a thing. Massive tight bottom and breaks just fine when I
need it to. Much better lead tones than I ever expected.

Good thing about a 4X10 would be that you can mix a pair of alnicos with some good
ceramics for a wide range of tones.

my marshall 4x10 was some of the best money I ever spent on a piece of gear.

i think it's a 1965 (model#). great mix of the half cab sound with the focus from 10's.

i dig it.

i have a marshall 4X10 as well.
its good.
also have an old silvertone 6X10 which is great.
i got it for $200, opened it up and its loaded with old jensens.
its worth more then that in speakers alone.
anyways, 10's are a nice color when you'r doing a bunch of gtr overdubs.
it has its own space against whatever other gtr tracks recorded
a 4X12.
when you use these types of techniques you end EQing less.
