Speaker suggestions for a 2x12 cab?

Just picked up a 2x12 bassman style closed back cab. I am thinking of replacing the speakers and need some suggestions. The cab needs to be able to handle 60W and 8ohms. I like Hiwatts but I don't know where to get any fanes.

Depends on what sound you are after. So many choices. Check out Ted Weber's site.

I'm thinking the answer is a mix of one Tone Tubby Hemp Cone Alnico
and one Weber Thames Ceramic.

The Thames also comes in Alnico if you want both to be Alnicos.

The Weber Thames is their Fane.

The Tone Tubby is one of the few 12" speakers that does not suffer from tone cry.

The blend of these two should give you a very smooth range along with
the power handling you're looking for.

A mix of Alnico Blue and G12H30 is very popular where I come from

With a 60 watt guitar head, you're going to have to be careful about power handling
in some speakers, especially Alnicos.

The Weber speaker guide is quite useful helping you to select the various tonal features like break-up and clean range.

Generally, the higher the power rating, the greater your extended clean range.

I like Vintage 30's too, but older UK models.

I'd really like to hear a cabinet set up with one Vintage 30 and one Weber Thames

and then A/B that cabinet with one set up with a Tone Tubby Alnico Hemp Cone (40 watt) and a Blue Dog or Thames Alnico.
