Help!! I need to recreate this guitar tone/effects! (mp3 inside)

Hi,

I need to remake a cover of this song but am having problems figuring out how this guitar riff sound is made. Here is an mp3 of it, the guitar shows up between 00:03" and 00:04".

Can any guitar gurus out there help me?!! PLEASE!!!

That's kind of short. Are you sure it's a guitar? It's fairly thin sounding, and doesn't sound particularly distorted. There's some modulation going on, like a fast and deep chorus pedal or a Leslie speaker.

I'm not convinced it's a "real" guitar, either, but you could certainly create a similar sound with a slide and a little distortion; maybe a phaser pedal set pretty fast, too.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I don't need to make it exact--just need to recreate a similar sound. I'm gonna try it with an electric gtr and a slide and see how that goes.

Regarding effects, what do you mean by phaser pedal set pretty fast? Is that to modulate it a bit...?

Thanks again guys!

Yeah --- sounds like a slide on a (12-string?) acoustic gtr. The scraping sound certainly sounds like ac gtr strings.

I've heard The edge get that kinda thing before --- Also check out Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn" for a similar sound

Use compression to bring up the decay of the note

There's loads of reverb on other instruments around the sound

It sounds like a synth with a pitch wheel slide. Probably a triton.
