Bass Strings - a shootout of sorts

About a month ago I needed some new strings on my P-bass so I grabbed a set of Rotosound 45-105. Over the next couple of weeks I began to suspect that my bass was not sounding as good as it used to. Opening sessions from before the change, the bass seemed a lot fuller. So I grabbed a set of DR fatbeams (also 45-105), which was the set that was previously on my bass. Just to be sure i recorded a test into Pro Tools with the Rotosounds, then changed to the DRs and recorded essentially the same part. My bass is back. Check out the DRs and stay away from the rotosounds. If anyone is interested in hearing the clips, I'm happy to post them.

I've always liked the Blue Steel's

Rotosounds are fine, but keep an eye on your fret wear.
