Impedance transformers for matching cabs and power amps

Hi everybody

I want to have the versatility of combining different amps with different speakers in the studio for a wider palette of tones and need a solution for the different impedance problems. Doing a search I’ve found this box so..
What do you think about it?
https://taweber.powweb.com/store/zmatch.htm

I suppose this is what you call an impedance transformer.. isn’t it?

Does someone of you have any experience with it?

Are there any others out there?

Does it have any disadvantage? … Or it is the perfect solution I was looking for?

And finally: I can’t see any power supply section on it… Doesn’t it need any?

Thanks

I believe the Z Matcher will be your best bet. There's a new company called Tone Doctor LLC that makes some interesting products, though they don't have a dedicated impedance matcher like Weber does. Check out this thread here on the Dr Z amp forum. I don't know if it will be of any help to you, but it's all I can think of at the moment.

I just got one, haven't tried it yet......I have a couple of amps that don't like 16 ohms and I have a killer CAA 1x12 with a McGourty vintage Greenback clone 16 ohms.

will report once I've had a chance to hook her up.

Thank you guys.

Andy, I'm looking forward to read your report.

Please, don't forget to tell me if it has a power supply section or it doesn't. Being in Europe means that all my orders to the States have to be a special current set up. In some units it's only an external switch, but other times it takes an internal set up and a change of fuses.

Thanks
