Christmas came a couple of days early for me, 2007 the year of the compressor !!

Well, it sure as heck isn't a Duality console, or a Fairchild 670 or a CM7 or even a Telefunken USA Elam 251, but I figured there might be some of you who might enjoy a shot of my new acquisitions.

My Germanium mic pre is already racked so it didn't make this pic but imagine on top of the other two if you will.

My journey for mic pres is complete...........for now................and it includes;

Vipre
Tube Tech MEC1A
Pacifica
Germanium
Great River MP-2NV
ISA 428
API 3124+
Shadow Hills GAMA 8

Anyways, I figure that 2007 is the year of the compressor

I am currently down to a pair of Distressors, Red 3, RNC and a DBX Blue 160SL

I have a TF Pro P38 coming here to try out. Also on deck;
API 2500
Thermionic Phoenix
Smart C2
RND Portico 5043
Purple Audio MC77

2007 is shaping up to be a good year

For those of you sane enough not too log in during Christmas, Happy Holidays to you all, for the rest of us, see you on the boards!!

Later

The fellow mixing my band's project right now is using an API 2500 on some of it and since I know the sound of the sources inside and out because I tracked them, that API 2500 is now on my list of comps to try. That thing can decimate if you want it to.

I, like you have hit the limit with pres and 2007 is also "year of the comp" for me as well. I will buy an optical/tube box of some sort and have narrowed it down to the following: Pendulum OCL-2, Electro Harmonix NY2A or the UA 2-LA-2A once it comes out and I can try it.

True North, have fun trying out all of your new comp prospects and a merry x-mas back at you!

I am trying out the P38 to see if that can give me any of that LA2A love. The Tube Tech MEC-1A has a CL1B'ish compressor in it. If the P38 work out than I won't have a need to check out any other optical compressors, save for the Purple MC77

If I have an extra 6G's kicking around , maybe I will give this thing a try, I wonder if the lead times have improved at all

That's a lotta pres, way more than most people need.

It's about 24 pres

I track full bands so I rarely use more than 20 at a time, but they do get used beleive it or not.

I actually have 2 ISA428's but I am selling one of them
