I have 2 great assistants which I've trained, as you can see, it have to be a detailed recall job, they have templates sheets for all my gear, and they make a great recall job when it's required.
As CLA, some gear remains untouched (some compressors and vintage reverbs).
Best regards.

OMG.

Armando,

I just saw this original and secondary post on your studio and almost just went overboard on a post to the forum.

First) Thanks for posting and being a part of this crazy gearzlutz world. It is much appreciated for you to take time out of working in this incredible studio of yours to even answer questions from your gearslutz brethren. I would probably be working perpetually...Just twisting knobs and seeing what came out.

Second) Where the heck (gearwise) do you START with all of these tools at your disposal?

For:

1) Recording Vocals
2) Recording Bass
3) Recording Drums (either virtual or real)

If this has been answered in previous posts, I apologize.

I could go on with questions, with all of the gear that you have and the credits that you have, but it would become a Rubik's Cube.

Thanks for being a gearslutz.

Happy Hollidays

Hi SoulSpace,
Well as everyone in this forum, I have to start my answers with... It deppends on the song or project, but I'm gonna answer your questions in that particular order:

1) Vocals: Well vocals always starts by choosing the correct mic, usually I put 3 or 4 mics and listen what fits for the kind of voice and for the song. Lately I'm using a vintage 1073 but before I've used TG channel and before that, I've used Avalon stuff, etc, etc.
It depends on the flavor of the month!!!!! Something that never change is my compressor chain which is alway MIC->Pre-> old Blackface 1176-> AD converter.

2) I love the sound of Avalon 737 on bass, I always use its instrument input then I put a Purple Audio MC77 and some times I split my signal in to a vintage SVT Ampeg with an 8x12 cab and I mic it with an RE20 or some times a Blue Mouse it's magical.

3) Drums... this is a long answer, because I spend a lot of time making my programed drums choosing from a lot of libraries and a lot of sound modules, it's an art that I've developed since the end of the 80's.

For live drums, I use the same mics and pres as most of people here: (BD D112 and 47fet outside) (SD sm57 top, KM84 bottom) (HH Akg451) (Toms 414), what's change on my set is that I love the sound of Beyer MC834 on OH's, its a great underated microphone. on Room I'm using my E47 and lately (After reading recording the beatles!!) I got 3 vintage AKG d19 that Im putting on drummers head and some times on toms, I also got an D12!!!!! For micpres I use vintage 1073's, Brent Averill 1272, Brent averill Api's, Avalon 2022's, Focusrite Red, Amek 9098, Tab V78, TG Channel, etc, etc.

So... all the gear you see in my rack is mostly for mixing.

Best regards.

your english is perfect, and most of us know why you post and we love it. It is inpirational for me for sure. I wish more people would share their success with enthusiasm like you do. It's like you said it before, some people buy jewelry and cars. About the drug guy, well.. I'm from Bolivia and when I went to school in the U.S I had more than a handfull of people ask if I had some coke with me. At first it was funny then it wasn't. Many people in America have a preconception of what latin america is like " do you go to work in a donkey " ??? and crap like that, that's why i'm even more proud to know that a studio of such magnitude is available in Mexico.. so post away man.

No, I'm not famous, Artists are famous, if you forget that simply detail, you can pass through a lot of pain, and also your carreer can last 5 minutes.

Also, when I post on "The good news channel" when I got a #1billboard hit or #1 record a Grammy nomination, or a Platinum or gold award, is because I'm proud of it, and I want to share it with crazy people like me, that is trying to do the same thing, is like telling GS people: GO FOR IT, IT IS POSIBLE!!!!.

Look, this is why I deleted all my pictures on my first thread, because some people didn't catch that I just want to share what I learn after hours and hours of work and testing gear, 60% of the gear I got for my studio is because I've read something on GS, or because some respectfully member post an opinion that catch my atention.

Best regards.

OK... If your not bragging, then why make a post about making a number 1 single, all done in the box.... and then after getting people´s attention about that feat.... telling them...well it´s not really true... I mixed on external analog gear.... BUT then saying .... by the way... " I must say that I wrote the song, played all the instruments, recorded it, mixed it, and now it´s number 1 and has sold X number of copies ..... Smells like bragging to me....... BUT....... YOU DESERVE IT , MANN !!! At first I felt like puking, but after reading more about your love for gear , and all your accomplishments..... and that you spend your money on important things, like family and gear, I take my hat off !! Also, the fact that you take time out to answer other slutz questions with such detail..... makes you a pretty good guy in my book....... Keep on braggin... it´s great to have a member here on Gearslutz with not only your knowledge of recording, but also musical ability....thanks for the posts !! Keep ém coming !!!

Well you can smell what ever you want or feel, but as I previously said, I'm just telling Gearslutz people what I achieved with my Digital Performer, of course I'm proud of it, and I'm gratefully with GS, because I've learned a lot here and obviously I wanted to express it.
