I mention he's blonde hair blue eyed, (White American) because we went to a Mexican restaurant once and a family was speaking Spanish at the table beside us. Because of the way he looks most people don't think he would be fluent. The Latina waitress came and his mind was in Spanish mode and he began speaking Spanish and the waitress looked at him funny, like WTF? Plus, when he was in Guadalajara he met a women and now he's married to her so I'm thinking he mostly speaks Spanish at home now, so that's a whole other level of fluency.
