New Pre for vocals and acoustic guitar I need some knowlege please from some experienced users. Any one to compare The Chandler LTD-1, to the Brent Averill 1073, to the new AMS- Neve 1073 DPA, or the AMS Neve 1073's. All things equal, mics/comp/converters. Which is the most similar to original 1073's , and any extra info, if you have the time, Much thanks

Just do a search.. this has been covered 4,384,567 times. If you can afford the AMS Neve 1073's... more power to you, but I think the BAE's are equally good and they ARE 1073's!

I don't know man... I do mostly acgtr/vocal stuff and I own actual Neve modules. They do sound good on pretty much everything, but those pre's are kind of one trick ponies. Consider something like Sytek's pres. They are wildly inexpensive and will probably work better for acgtr stuff than some Neve copy. Not to say the Neve copies won't work ~ but the Sytek's are more versatile and a better deal. I thought the Syteks would suck too when I found out you could get 4 channels for something like $800. They are surprisingly good. If you go with the Neve copy just know that it'll do it's thing very well... but in my experience, that's all it does. If you want a mic pre to stay out of the way, the Neve copies are not the first place to look. If you don't like the Syteks move over to Great River. More expensive, but I've done a lot of tracks (acgtr and vox) with GR lately and it is a less bombastic and very usable take on vintage.
