| Gear interested | JM-130 Mic Pre
I just got a JM-130 mic pre.. I just wanted to get the word out on this unit. It's a well kept Nashville secret. It's definitly a secret weapon.. This thing is HUGE sounding.. Slap a C12 and an 1176 or an LA2a to it and oh my God! They're rare.. I think this guy makes them to order, but I got my hands on one at a very reasonable price.. I got it thinking I need a decent pre..I wasn't expecting what I got to be like this. It's, basically, in the Neve, API range..it just sounds fat, huge and clean.. The guy I got it from said that it wasn't all that pricey when he got it new. All I know about it is the shop's name is JMK Audio. I'm sure there's a website, but I have no idea if he still is there or still makes them or what, but everyone who cuts serious vocals needs to get their hands on one. It's one serious mic pre..it's now my go-to pre..and I have some great pres. Right now, I'm going straight to it first on vocals, especially female...it cuts a killer bass too.. |
