huge price difference adl600 in europe

So I did some research on what preamp to get next and I desided to get me an adl600.

I've seen prices in the US and it's mostly somewhere around the 2000$.
I expected that it would be more expensive in Europe because of the shipping and the extra retailers that hasto make money on it.

But hey the price here is 2500 euro that's 3300$ I could use that 1300$ for something else!!!!

Does anybody know an american store that ships the adl600 to europe or maybe a european store that handles US prices for as far as possible.

Or maybe is there just no way I can get close to that 2000$ living in Holland!!!

Bear in mind that you'll pay 19% BTW (VAT) on top of the $2000 dollar. It is deductable if you're a company though. Also, you have to pay x% import duties (0 < x <5 for me so far), which are non-deductable. That said, it can still be beneficial to import stuff from the states. I did it alot (Millennia, Chandler, Summit etc.)

Ok thanks for the info I am a company so I won't have to pay the vat but do you have any idea what the import duties will be on 2000$ ?
Do you know a good retailer who will ship to europe?

Yes, there are many who will ship to Europe, but bear a few things in mind:

extra shipping cost: about €1-200, insured with Fed-Ups.
VAT: €350-400, which you'll get back eventually, but I guess you'll have to fork it up in the first place.
Import: Probably around €75-100, based on actual cost of unit + shipping cost up until your border!
Is your device switchable between 110 and 220? Or do you need an additional power transformer?
All these forementioned points of caution are not likely to impress you I bet, but what when your device needs servicing? That's when things get a little messy you know...And I have a bit of (bad) experience with that, I can tell you...Gets pretty (although "pretty" is a contradictio in terminis in this sentence) expensive, cause then you gotta cough up even more for double boxing, shipping, insurance and shipping back to you. And if you forgot to get a temporary export license you're screwed big time...Also factor in some time for praying that US or EU Customs don't open up your box, cause then again the odds are very much against you...Why? Well, for some reason they always seem to 'forget' to close the box after inspection...Gut-wrenching discovery that could be ...
Now, most of the times the plot won't be as dramatic of course...
So you do the math...

Bottom Line Part II: YMMV
Bottom line Part III: YSMV

Oh, and BTW,I'm not your local sales dude, but nevertheless I'm a little biased and on the wrong side of business: I buy stuff...

Yeah, it's pretty amazing how big those price differences can get, i can imagine it's becoming tough to compete for european dealers.

But when you're going to spend a lot of money on gear it's probably a nicer idea to have a dealer around the corner where you can go to when there are problems. It might be worth the extra cash.

Oh and if you're really want to know there's also the possibility to let someone in the states send it to you as a gift. In that case the person sending it is the buyer... (you'll pay him back offcourse)

Good luck with it

Road dog will hook you up, just email him and let him know you are cool and not some scammer before you buy. Maybe even talk on the phone. He will ship it to you.

Ask him to mark it as a GIFT to avoid import tax.

While Presonus has a pretty detailed description on dealer agreements about how one may/may not sell through Ebay, point 8 clearly says no U.S dealer on Ebay or otherwise may make International sales. Warranties will be voided etc etc. Is Rick Nagvi around? How does Roaddog get around this? I'll gladly start shipping internationally too as soon as Rick clarifies how Roaddog does it.

No U.S. dealer is 'allowed' to sell overseas. It is a violation of our dealer agreement and the warranty is void if you buy from a U.S. dealer and you don't live in the U.S.

The reason for that is that we have distributors that repair and support our products in each country (as do most other manufacturers). That's why the price is higher. Because it would be more expensive for our customers overseas to ship their products to Louisiana when they break (paying shipping and tarriffs both ways). Plus they would deal with time zone issues when they needed help, etc..

I don't know where you got the price of $3300, however that seems high to me. I'm checking with our distributor in Holland to get you a better price. You should pay about 10% more than in the US after VAT. In my opinion, an extra 10% is worth having a local dealer and support for the product.

Please contact me directly at rnaqvi@presonus.com and I'll get you hooked up with a local dealer in Holland.

Typical, the people selling the stuff have NO IDEA how much its being marked up for overseas. tutt tutt tutt

It will probably cost about $50 to get one shipped from the US.

Seeing as though Presonus feels so strongly about the quality of their products that the warranty covers a whole whopping 12 months, you're not missing much there.

Bryston they ain't.
