Question for Thrillfactor - Massive Passive or SSL EQ for phatter bass?

Hey Thrill, i was just messing around with my massive passive EQ, and i was tweaking a bass patch from the Triton Keyboard. I got the bass to sound 10 times phatter, it was pretty sick.

All i did was turn all three knobs on the low frequencies section all the way up, and had it on shelf with no filters on. I also didnt even turn the gain up at all, and i made the bass 10 times phatter.

I was thinking of selling the Massive Passive because i need money, so i was wondering if you can make bass as phat with the SSL E & G series EQ, as you can with the Massive Passive? The SSL EQ i'll be getting is the X-Rack EQ ( EQ from SSL XL 9000 K ).

If you could help me out with this id really appreciate it, if the Massive Passive will do phatter bass than the SSL EQ, then i dont think i want to sell it.

Thx!

No you can't.

They sound totally different...nothing alike. If you sell the MP than look at a used Pultec copy Summit EQP or Tubetech PE1C. If you look hard and stay patient you can get either for a really good price. The SSL EQ does more of the GML 8200 thing on bass where you can do a humongous peak(up to 9db) and it doesn't distort or destroy your speakers it just gets punchier.

I've heard great things about the new E channel(which is the one i know best).

And next time PM me ok?

Also..the Mercury's have come down in price, not the same as the real deal, but still a pretty damn usable bass eq .
the EQH-2 version, I saw one used for around 1200.00
