80's Hair Metal mix

Greetings!!!
I'm recording a band that really wanted to re-do a Poison song. ee..
well, it turned out kick ass and i want to have some fun mixing.

Trying to get a vintage mid-80's, androgynous, tight spandex wearing, 16oz of fluorocarbonated hair-spray, little too heavy on the makeup, sex was great with a different tity-dancer everynight before this aids thing came along kinda mix.

Tools;
SSL 4000
many compressors... 1176, la-2, distressors....
lexicon and eventide FX....

Any good tips from those who've been there, done that?

Yeah, and the vocal reverb HAS to be some sort of large plate preset.

Poison and that whole hair-metal scene was well into the AIDS end of the decade, hoss. The pre-AIDS party scene was spelled DISCO (and besides that, the 1970's in general); AIDS was on the cover of TIME magazine in 1983/4. tempus fugit.

like others said, run the entire mix through an SPX 90, scoop the entire midrange out of it, crank the high end like there's no tomorrow, and you'll have a winning 80's "Pirate Radio"-style mix.

Don't forget to remove the 60 Hz out of the bass as well.

Don't forget to remove the 60 Hz out of the bass as well, and make sure it's out of the way of everything else.
