"Digital" patch bay? has it been done...

Hello

I was thinking something in lines of the switchblade guitar switching system (www.soundsculpture.com) but aimed at studio owners with a lot of outboard gear. Connect everthing to it and control it say via usb and a computer, has some company made this product?

i've seen some in broadcast studio's from Friend-Chip. They work with the different protocols (aes/adat/tdif/...) trough modules and have convertors form the one to the other protocol (it's kind of modular)

I actually own the DMX 32 by Friend-Chip and it is an amazing unit. Mine is loaded with 24 channels of AES and 80 channels of ADAT. Works great! I highly recommend it.

Frontier Apache (For adat)

I've used the Apache at work and it seems to work great. It's great for 8 chanenl mults. I can send the same AD channels to two or more computers.

I've heard good things about the Z-systems AES patcher too.
