Mastering Compressor !

Hi,

I am looking for a Mastering compressor.

I can get a Neve 33609j or a Massenburg 8900

What you think ?

Or better to buy a TC M6000 with MD3 software ?

Any of you use one of this gear for mastering ?

Thanx 4 your Time

Have you tried the Cranesong STC8 or the VariMu? Very musically pleasant results... I use those two along with a HEDD192... Works great. just an idea...

These are good suggestions(especially if they are the mastering versions).

I would also say add a third comp(something with a "hard" color), for those songs when mastering that need a little push.

For mastering, I always use a multi band compressor. The bass usually dominates so the multi band control is very handy. Focusrite Mixmaster has a good analog compressor with built in stereo eq, limiter, stereo expander and spatial enhancer.

I guess everyone opinions are different.

I've used them all.

The Prism to me is too dark sounding.

I like the STC8 a lot, but it can't fill in every "nook and cranny"(where the mastering Vari-Mu plus the Blue 330(with transformers) can fill the gaps).

The TC6000 has its place(as well as the Weiss). I think they work great as a Desser.

Give me those, a couple of EQ's, a custom Manley mastering console, super A/D-D/A's, some excellent monitoring and we are ready to go.
