| Apogee AD8000 or internal Digi HD internal clock? I just got an apogee AD8000 w/digi card and DAC VIII cards for $1000 (cool!) should I use the Apogee's Crystal clock as master or the Internal HD clock? Would it make a HUGE difference if I bought a Big Ben and a master? Thanks!

Well, it depends what you mean by HUGE... For instances, when I bring it into another studio and hook it up to much anything else digital over a few peices a big ben (or any master clock) is HUGE because if you don't use it you get clicks and pops and bits of nothing. | |

| apogee vs HD: try it out and see! apogee or HD vs big ben: probably not a "huge" difference in either direction. but again, try it out and see! --jon

| Thanks for the replies so far. I did try the HD as master, then the 8000 as master. I've gotta say... I did not tell a difference. I don't think it's a matter of my ears not being able to distinguish a difference. All I have looked up digitally is.... the 192 I/O, the new Apogee ad8000, and an Eventide Orville (via AES on all 4 ch)... Oh... I also have a Benchmark DAC-1 coming out of the 192 via Coax. Not much, but It seems to me like a clock might be helpful.. I just don't know how much.
