Thread Starter | Stereo compressor for tracking
Right now I've got 3 distressors, 2 1176, Fatso, Tube Tech Cl1b. These cover a lot of ground but It would be nice to have a dedicated stereo comp for tracking. The Fatso works once in awhile. But I've been think maybe a Drawmer 1968. I do everything to RnB, Hip Hop, classic, accapella, and rock and blues. It would also be nice to have a something a bit cleaner than what we've already got. If any one has any suggustions that would be great. Thanks Matt |

The one 'taste' I think you're missing is a Neve-style comp. 33609 if you can afford it, Chandler LTD-2 if you can't (2 of them, I guess, if stereo is a must [and it is]).

A Summit DCL-200 is also a very good compressor. It's very smooth sounding.

The new Aurora Audio GTQc compressor is an incredible piece that would give you another completely different sound than what you already have. It has both FET and OPTO circuits, and a unique feature uses both types in a mixed mode. The auto attack & release is so cool, especially for hip hop vocals. It would be the first one I would check out, considering you already own Distressors, 1176's, and a CL1B.

Don't forget the Neve Portico compressor and the Daking. Well worth a listen, with similar mojo to the 33609 - designed to compete well with them, and both great for tracking.

Another Portico 5043 fan here. Works for tracking and the mixbuss.

How about another tube tech? Dual mono compressors in a stereo situation RULES!! If you're talking about more of a psuedo mastering type of situation, consider the Buzz Audio SOC1.1 or anything from Crane Song, they are all very flexible and transparent. |

Vintage Design C1 is a great add to the ones you got.. I'll choose it over 33609 for tracking.
