| Lives for gear | Audient ASP008 VS Onyx pre´s
Hello... Anyone have an Audient ASP008 and can tell me about their sound compared to other pre´s such as Precision 8 or (Mackie Onyx pre´s.....can I put then in the same class without being laughed at ) hahahha I have an Onyx 1640 console, and would like to upgrade pre´s to an 8 channel pre that´s really nice... Maybe a DAV BG-8 is my ultimate answer ? Any tips ? thanks !!

I have an Audient board. From what I hear the pres in the asp008 are the same so I can assure you they must sound pretty damn good. However they are not on the colored side, just depends what you're looking for.

I have heard them both and i would deffinately pick the ASP008 over the Onyx if i was in the market for a multi channel mic pre. Having said this the ASP008 is quite a transparent preamp, if your looking for colour then you might want to consider something else. |

| Lives for gear | clear sound
Thanks for your replies ! Here are my pre´s that I currently have... Allen and Heath GS3000 recording console pres, Mackie Onyx, Focusrite Octopre, and Aurora Audio GTQ2. The Aurora gives me color, the allen and heath is semi transparent, with a bit of color, the Octopre is crap, and the Onyx is pretty clear. I want a replacement for the Octopre that would be clearer than all my other pres. I guess the Audient ASP008 , for the money, would be my best bet..... ? If it costs 1500, then, maybe a DAV BG8 would only be about 800 more.. maybe that would be worth the extra cash...........

I'm an Audient fan but have to admit DAVs are amazing, try to test them both and see what you like best.

What about the True systems Precision 8. Might cost a little more though.

| How do you like that GS3K? I've been seriously thinking about getting one (when I can find one for sale) just to say that I have a tube console. I know it only has two tubes, but since you can patch them anywhere, the "tube" thing becomes something marketable. I'd love to hear something recorded on one.

I own the Audient ASP008 and its a great clean preamp (the best thing you get 8 of them in 1 HE/19") and I like the ADAT option I have. clean, transparent, good transient response. works on everything. you also have 2 OK sounding DIs.. its not a VIPRE DI but good. cheers

I have had an Onyx 800R now for two weeks and have decided to return it. First I thought it was ok but later when I listened it soundet grey and boring- I decided to go for a littel console instead of a multi channel mic-pre. |
