Lavry (dB) vs. other convertors

I have Mytek stereo AD (before had Apogee Rosetta which was a league below). I would need another two top quality AD channels. I was thinking to order another Mytek (it sounds excellent to me), but then suddenly came to an idea why not another brand. I read a lot good about Lavry convertors and would like to know how they compare to Mytek (Apogee etc.). I am actually thinking of AD DA version. Does anyone have a direct experience with these convertors ? (or a possible comparison ?). I have 3D ADCD and dB convertors sound very nice there.

I have used the Lavry "Blues". They are very nice. I do acoustic/classical stuff, and I was very pleased.

I have not used the Mytek's, but you already know them. You can easily rent the Lavry Blue series from Dreamhire in NYC to give them a try.

Mercenary has a pretty good price on them. I'm sure you wouldn't be dissapointed.

I have a stereo AD/DA pair due here Monday, be glad to let you know what they sound like. Those I have talked to all seem to agree they are very clean, detailed and uncolored. We'll see.

We did a little shootout on some analog 2 track material here with the both Lavrys, Mytek and dcs. I thought the lower line blue Lavry and the Mytek were similar enough. The more expensive gold box was a smidge more real and larger and was up there with the dcs but both pricey as hell. ouch.

I think he means "smidge"? In which case it would be like saying "a wee (which means little) bit (better/worse) than _____"

Its short for "smidgen" which means a small amount. Also spelled smidgin, smidgeon or smidge (for short).
