Sounds great, but ....uuuuuh... DAV BG is in the price range if you only need a dual channel mic preamp. While the Focusrite unit has 8 mic pres, instrument & line I/O, A/D/D/A converters & what not at the end it's much cheaper per channel/functionality than DAV.
Sound quality compares the same way, though

Hoooopss... Sorry, I missed that, just assuming it was a dual pre (since it was compared to the RED...). My bad!

Hey drakewire!

Thanks for sharing your mp3's and all. It's been great listing to the pres.

I also wanted to ask you about the pres in the regular Saffire that sells for $399 verses the Saffire Pro 10 and the Pro 26. Are they the same pres that are in the Saffire for $399?

Thanks!

Jamie

Hey drakewire,

I asked Focusrite about the mic pres in the Saffire and here's what they had to say:

Hi Jamie

Thanks for your email.

The Mic pres in the standard Saffire are the same as those in the Saffire PRO, and in the Saffire LE. They are also the same Mic Pres from our Green Range.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Best regards

Andy Poole
Focusrite
So perhaps there's some miss communication or perhaps the Saffire does have the greens and that it just happen to sound better via the electronics.

James
