National chain? Wendy's Single with cheese. (The fries are better than JITB or Burger King). Local (in nashville) is definitely Fat Mo's; there's one on Franklin Road (Near Berry Hill) and one on Murfreesboro road.

But I don't think anyone actually orders the Ozburger.... not at my place anyhow.

My other vote would be Carls Jnr. Can't remember the name of the burger but it's one mofo!

High end...? then surely it's gotta be be sushi joint?

"I'll flip a fatburger when I'm way out west"

Cheezeburger with everything (egg included sometimes) with Curly fries, and a Lemonade with a cherry.

In NYC, the only burger n fries I really bother with (seriously--I don't think I've had a burger elsewhere in the city in years) is the Corner Bistro's (W. Village).

[edit:]
Oh, and since this in High End (???): the chopped sirloin at Frankie & Johnnie's is proper, 'speshly with the fried onions.

Peece,

I've never understood the In 'n Out mystique. They make a fine burger, but their fries are weird - they coat them in some kind of sugar thing before they fry them. I don't dig 'em.

I way prefer the Fatburger thing...awesome (bigger) burger, homemade onoion rings...

Hungry now...

As far as fast food shit goes, I hardly touch the stuff any more. But on the odd occasion I do I like to keep it simple... McD's #2 V-meal: Two c-burgers fry's and a coke... supersize!

Nando's (portugese flame grilled chicken burger) with cheese, bacon, pineapple, onion, lettuce, mayo and sweet lemmon and herb sauce ****drools like Homer**** and chips with DIT tomasto/chilli dipping sauce...

Its my once a year treat and i had it last yr... omg i walked out feeling 5KG heavier. But from my past fast food indiscretions, i will have to put in another vote for the Hungry Jack's (Burger King) double bacon cheese deluxe.. BOOYAH solid fat and cholseterol in one simple meal.

In a previous life i managed a Mc Donalds... it was not pretty..grudge grudge grudge

Now its just Sushi and cold beer...

None of these fast food joints are... but the fries are still the best on the planet regardless of whatever toxic sludge they're cooked in.

As far as I can tell, Sushi's not food... it's bait. ...

Cold beer(?)...nectar of the gods!

You guys can have bacon with it? Nando's is the best.

For Surf N Turf, definately try Belgo's chain of restaurants. They do a wicked Steak n Lobster with fries. Sublime!

Nonsense - they were great a couple or three decades ago, when they were cooked in lard (I remember!) but now they're just filler...

In Kansas City, Winstead's double cheese with onion rings and a Lime phosphate to wash it down.

In LA, In-n-Out burger animal style is good or protein style if you're on a diet.

Absolutely...they'd make a fortune if they come to Nashville. They are legendary among touring players from here.

Ask for the animal style 4x4. Thats where they grill the bun and onions and slap 4 patties on. You better be hungry.

My band's been out on tour in so cal 3 times in the last couple months. EVERYONE lives for In and Out. We end up eating it twice a day.

Its always such a sad thing when you have to leave that area. I do agree on the fries being weird. Just get two singles animal style and a coke.

um, Blakes Lotaburger in new mexico- with green chili and cheese, fagedaboutit, that shizzle rulez!
but, after reading fast food nation, it's really hard to go to any of the nationals. if i recall correctly, in out burger in cali is one of the only chains that gives health insurance and job security to its workers, is still family owned, and is basically right on, if you care about the politics. though i lust after wendy's burgers when i'm on the road, after reading that book, i can't much eat at any of them places.
for a real cheesburgercheesburgercheesburgerpespsinocoke, corner bistro in ny does it right for sure, but in the high end department, the burger at Peter Luger's in Brooklyn (only served at lunch) will just about mash your nibnob- unfrickinstopable. pramrod
