Harrison 32 Series or Harrison MR3

I have been searching a while for a Harrison console. I have found a Harrison 32 Series 32ch and one Harrison MR3 36ch. Anyone working with these consoles? What's the differences in sound of the EQ etc... do they sound exactly equal?
Is there a problem(high risk) regarding repair of these models? If so, are the parts in general expensive?
They have both been recapped.
The 32 Series console is 3000$ more than MR3.

1) Difference in sound? Yes.

2) Difference in functions? Yes.

3) Are they both maintance hogs? Yes the MR3 being more.

4) Are the parts expensive? It depends. Does the MR3 you are looking at have Plasma meters? If so than look elsewhere or figure away to replace the whole meter bridge.

Thanks,
More functions in MR3=More Problems!!
Maybe it's safer to go for the 32 Series console, not so much that can be broken.
You say they sound different. I have been working once with a Harrison 4032 and really liked it, the sound of it was beautiful. Maybe this is not what my experience will be of MR3?

I've got a TV-3 (MR3 with different routing) and haven't had any problems since getting it recapped four years ago. Mind you, mine's a semi-pro facility, at best, so it's not running constantly. Pres are solid (GREAT on bass, and most drums) and I love the eq. Very big, muscular sound.

I'm under the impression that the 3 series was the last to closely follow the 30-something designs; I've been TOLD it hews closely to the 30-sound but I don't know firsthand.

Good luck! -E

Remoteness also had an MR4, I don't remember him having any problems with the meters, maybe you had a bum one. My general complaint with the Harrison is not really flexible enough, not enough ins. The one at the studio I worked at really wasn't well maintained.

It's certainly "pro," but it's not an API, Neve, A Range ... I'm sure it'll sound better than mixing ITB. I think the eqs are great and, though it sounds like you won't need them, the pres are definitely usable.

If it doesn't come with cabling, you're going to need some Tuchels, so be prepared for that. -E

Thanks for the info.. Need to ask about the tuchel cords. Also, do they need a lot of maintenance? Heard that "thriller" with michael jackson was recorded on such a desk, has to be pretty cool then.. Thanks alot for help!

The only problems I've had are with the vcas, which do give out. Otherwise no problems. -E
