| Mixing in Mono This thread comes up as follow to the "Mix Pix" thread, as i went thru all setups ( very nice...), i noticed that almost everybody dosent have a third speaker in the center for mixing in mono. Do you mix in Mono ? if so, do you have a 3rd center speaker for that job ? or you just hit the mono, and listen to the Left/Right speaker ? whold it better if the Mono speaker will be in the center of the console ? ( right at your face) ... ![]()

| Yes, it is better to have a centre speaker for mixing in mono. When you listen to 2speaker mono you'll face phase problems because you'll never listen at the same distance from both speakers. You'll always hear the comb filters.... |

| I have an Auratone 5C "Soundcube" [which is hooked up to a McIntosh MC-100 amplifier] that sits in the middle of my meter bridge which is almost always used in mono. For me, it's the best tool I have to make sure the balances are right... I've also had a more full range speaker I've used in mono in the back of the room on occasion [an Altec 604/D in an old Altec "Utility" cabinet]. These days the Altecs serve as both the 'shop speakers' as well as the "Studio Listen Speaker" system so I don't have them in the CR anymore... but there are some days when one of them is brought down from their perch and put in the back of the room. In my world 'mono compatibility' is still of paramount importance as it helps things translate in cars and off the TV better.... whether or not that is of any importance to your world is for you to say... but in my world its pretty important. Peace.
