Studios in Paris

Hello all,

I'll be recording an album next month in Paris France. 6 piece band (two guitar, bass, percussion, keys, drums +vox), pretty much all live -- "acoustic soul". Will need a decent sized tracking area with 2-3 good isos. Will want to record to Pro tools HD and Tape. I found an older thread with some recommendations, but there was one problem -- it seems every major studio has an SSL and hardly and good outboard pres. We really want to track to a vintage neve or API or something else with transformers and more colored. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

Thanks,
Danny

thanks for the response. I thought the garage had PT HD but it seems they don't. Do you have a website for the studio ferber? I looked all over and couldn't find any info.

Thanks,
Danny

Exactement
There is Studio de La Reine in the 13th, the guys are really cool they have an 4000e/g+ (Brian Eno's I think) a pthd3 a studer 827 and some really cool old school gear (Gates and some other stuff I can t remember). I have not been to the studio but I met the owner and he is a seriously cool guy that certainly seems like he knows what he's doing.
Hope this helps

Vintage API : Studio Garage or Studio Gang (great vintage keys collection too)

Vintage Neve : Studio Ferber

It's the biggest of the three and THE BEST sounding room in France ! (Track drums in studio A and you'll never want to go anywhere else...). Great "music" vibe in there and great mic locker as well. They do have pro tools HD + tape recorder

Give a call to JC :

I insist here in PlusXXX you can track with two different kind of Neve:
the 51 in studio 4 or 88R in studio 1
and later mix with two different kind of SSL
XL9000 in studio2 or 4K in studio 3
That's plenty of choices isn't it?
Anyway have a good stay in Paris.

I think it was taken over by the crew recently because it was threatened of bankruptcy. but not sure about this.

Damn it looks very nice. I can't believe somebody built 6 totaly hi end rooms at one complex.

Hahaha, concerning bankrupcy... Shit happens, but unfortunatelly mostly to greatest studios out there!

Peace!

The studio PlusXXX has been taken over by Blue Sound a post prod company not by the crew (that's omega) and it was not threatened by bankrupcy.

The 6 rooms are not in the same building . 4 of them in Paris19 and 2 ( post prod oriented ) in Levallois .

A true old neve can be found at Studio de la Frette ( custom 1972 Studio Barclay neve with 1081 and 1073 modules) .

They have Fairchild,Pultecs,LA2A,Telefunken Pres . Good range of mikes .

Their phone 01 39 31 51 00 . I hope they're still running .
