Thread Starter | Manley Mas Passive eq vs Gyratec XIV eq
Hi, I have to buy an eq to use in mix and above all mastering. I'd like to try Massive Passive but some people told me that it's not the best for the high freq. I'd like to see also for Gyratec XIV eq. I'm searching for something musical. Someone can told me something about the differences? Or could you suggest other solutions to try? thanks!! |

if you're searching fro something musical try Amtec PEQ1a .it smokes massive passive in the highs and in the lows . i think its one of the silkiest and the punchiest sounding eqs on this planet .period |

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks the Massive Passive sucks.

I have just received Gyratec XIV . Tested it thoroughly (also in comparison with IBIS) on various type of music. Wow ! Sounds really sweet and velvet ... Gives a silky, airy beauty to everything that passes through it ... Also firm, rich bass and punch ... Everything that passes through it sounds suddenly very euphonic and "profi". Very musical - with beautiful high frequencies ... Looks very monumental ... So far I found an amazing tandem in Gyratec EQ followed by Ibis plain with little bit of colour (adds nice touch of harmonics and slightly deepens the stage). Although standalone Gyratec sounds sometimes a bit more firm and clear, in certain cases preferable. The only thing I would easily miss are those huge handles ... I must ask Jakob whether it is possible to remove them ... And it is STEREO !! You don´t have to bother to make the same settings twice on each channel (not my favourite hobby) ... Thus I have no desire for any other EQ at the moment. Very clean, yet musical Ibis (with the "colour" blessing) and the huge sweet Gyraf ... They seem to be able to do any kind of musical job ... Gyratec 10 Vari Mu may be the next unforgivable gearlust sin |

Today we have done mastering of a rock CD and used Gyratec G14 for the first time. The result sounded truly great - musicians were quite amazed. Full, euphonic, punchy, highly professional ... with shining velvet highs ... (although the mix was not that great). In connection with Ibis (a touch of "colour" + some occasional band adjustments) - simply divine... |

Does anyone have a Gyratec XIV in USA? Was it expensive to ship to USA?

As to the 2nd part of the question, 'ISedlacek' is not in the U.S., his profile shows his location as Europe.

ISedlacek, have you compared Gyrateck to Manley or Amtec? How is it on the Low-Mid and High-Mid Freq? |

| The G14!
I recently bought the G14 eq AND the G10 vari-mu, and I LIKE... The eq is amazing. I've used the Manley too and its a great piece of gear but i prefer the Gyraf. Nice sounding and its stereo as someone pointed out. My tip is to go for the Gyraf. // J

| Lives for gear | No ... Gyraf does highly musical "viby" treatment in the whole spectrum. What more do I need ? Ibis is on very clean side ... These two brothers (or sisters ?) are a perfect team now ... (G10 will be here next week |
