Thread Starter | Lexicon 224 v4.4 Start-up Error Codes
Does anyone here have a list or know what the startup error codes mean o a Lexicon 224 v4.4? Don't tell me to call Jim Fabiano. I am getting E92 at powerup. The unit comes up in a strange mode with too many LEDs lit on the LARC. After you hit a few buttons it appears to function normally except the "ovfl" LED stays lit. The readout seeems to be pulsing a bit more than normal. The Ni-Cad batteries on the OPT (option) board are dead as a doornail. This only stores programs you have created and the unit should work w/o them powering up. I have cleaned and seated most of the socket mounted ICs. I have cleaned all of the edge connectors. I have another functioning unit, but it is a v4.3. I am going to start swapping cards. I also have a another completely non-fuctional v4.3 that needs a whole new CPU board. Anyone have the error codes handy? Danny Brown |

E92 indicates a high order byte failure in the d-mem pcb, most likely a defective memory chip. The defective memory chip can swapped with the lowest order memory chip, U1. This increases the noise floor by +6db but allows immediate operation if needed. Sometimes contaminated sockets are the cause, the only way I've rectified that is to replace all of them with Milli-max machined sockets with a Hakko 808 tool. Jim Williams Audio Upgrades |

Jim... did you see the email I sent you? The E92 was an old problem. I get E31 and E91 now. I guess that E91 is a memory chip problem, too. This just crept up as I was working on the thing yesterday. I am most concerned about the E31 code because that came up after I re-seated the chips in the T&C board. Of course the "CALL" button not working is the main problem. I have to get back to where I was before the error codes came up to deal with that. Thank God I have two machines because I put two chips in backwards while being distracted on the phone. That T&C board has lot's of errors now. The chips are all oriented correctly now, but I must have toasted one. I didn't mark them either, so I am not 100% percent sure which ones they are! |
