"Early in October of this year, Mr. Rupert Neve will introduce his first new analogue modular mixing console design – the fully discrete, transformer-balanced 5088 – since his return to manufacturing".

Good god !

I think I'm going to faint !!

Please don't be just competition for the 8816.

Anyone know more?

I think that's 2007, not this October. But the 5014 and 5016 are due out.

"The modular 5088 mixing console, available in spring 2007, offers buss/line/tape input selection, transformer-coupled direct outputs and a 100mm fader on each input, with 8 busses and 8 aux sends, and a comprehensive master/monitor section. The 5082 eight-channel vertical format mixer will also be added to the product line-up in 2007."

"The 5016 Two Channel Mic Pre DI with vari-phase will be shipping in late September. The mic pre section will be identical to that of the popular 5012 and 5032 modules. The DI section will include 35 dB gain, continuously variable phase control, ground lift, custom Rupert Neve designed transformers and selectable line or hi-Z inputs. The 5014 Stereo Field Editor will be shipping in late October"

avaliable 2007. unveiled soon.

You probably won't be able to get your hands on the console till spring 07, but i bet they'll introduce it at AES in SF in October. I had heard a rumor going around that there was going to be a new SSL at AES, but after reading this i think it will be a Rupert Neve (aka GOD) affair. It does make sense. With how popular the portico series has become.

Just my $.02

oh btw. if there is a new SSL comming out and i'm the only @$$hole that didn't know about it. Consider this post an apology for my ignorance.

Peace

You're not the only asshole that didn't know SSL was putting out a new desk... then again I could care less that SSL is putting out a new desk.

It would make sense that RND would be getting ready to release a desk frame... the new 5033 5 band Equalizer is pretty bad assed... couple that with a bunch of the 5012 mic pre's, a couple of compressors and a couple of tape emulators and you'll have one hell of a cool console.

From what I hear, Paul and Dave have discussed it, and it is on the table, but Dave works at his own pace (he only has 3 products), so don't hold your breath.

The new Tonelux 3500 bus compressor should be out fairly soon though.

well i guess now that the cat is out of the bag, i can finally post this here:

------------------
(...)
That's it exactly. Expandable in 16 Chanell increments. Line input, 8 to 16 aux (utilizing aux to buss), 4 stereo returns, transformer driven direct outs on all mono input channels. 100mm faders, full sized mute and solo switches with Pre's, Eq's and Comps added as needed(hopefully ours!).
(...)
We have not yet confirmed all pricing details yet, The basic format will be 16 mono and 4 stereo returns, expandable in 16 input increments. As it is impossible to get a consensus on metering, there will be a number of options for the user to pick from.
Pricing etc won't be confirmed until the AES or shortly before.
(...)
-------------------

really, too good to be true. 8 real auxes, 100mm faders and.. BIG retroilluminated mute/solo switches!!. With the Neve (clean path this time) name on it. And it looks really great.

Just fear it's going to be more expensive than i initially thought.

Hey, so is this just a summing unit with faders and auxes? Not a traditional console? Because it looks as though there's no eq on each channel or place for it to be put in.
Is Neve wanting to make it so that you need to buy their rack and fill it with eq's compressors, like ssl is doing for the AWS?
questions, questions!!

Not a "summing unit, "Sir.
A line mixer!

You can do anything you want with it.

Is that a big ass monitor volume knob on the RT?

Oh, my root.

A few questions:

- Considering it's designed to be used as a console, why would you want transformer outs on every channel but no transformers on the input?

- Are RND going to be building an external rack to house all the outboard EQs, mic pres and compressors?

- Aside from the gain and pan pots on each channel, there are 8 other knobs - what are they? All auxes?
