Harp Guitar?

What setup have/would you use to record one of these?

Just as a point of interest, I'm fairly positive this is a 1915 Gibson Harp Guitar...

i would use a single DPA 4011 at about 10-12" out from the upper part of the soundboard sort of between the harp strings and the normal strings, around the 12-15th fret, and a pair of DPA 4006s as a spaced pair out at about 2-3 feet, and belnd to taste. this is basically the same set up i use on a pedal harp.

I've never recorded one but I figured a multi mic set up is where I'd start as well... Though, considering the width of the string spacing, I'd probably go with an omni up front and a pair of cards as the distant pair (depending on how much 'room' I was after of course).

Has anyone had a chance to work with one of these things?

if it's for a solo performance coles 4040? or 4038 if you've got a good pre. Just one mic works pretty well but you could xy them if you want stereo. i find this works well with mandolins and guitars from that era. the harp guitars are pretty loud cos they're archtop.
