Thread Starter | The rundown
I'm doing a major studio upgrade and have pretty much decided what I'll be spending my hard earned on. I'm ordering loads of stuff but I'll only list the highend bits that I haven't completely made up my mind on. 1.Seveth Circle Audio Lunchbox with 2xN72's, 2xA12, 2xJ99. 2.Neumann KM184 Matched Pair 3.Either a Peluso 2247LE or a Pearlman TM1 4.Rupert Neve Portico 5043 compressor/Limiter Duo 5.Waves SSL Bundle Right, are the seventh audio pre's "highend", would I be better off with an an avalon AD2022, a Chandler LTD1 and a Focusrite ISA428???? Secondly, I do rough masters (with software) for my clients so that they have a fairly loud CD to take home and explain to them that a mastering studio is the best next step for them. Will the neve Portico make a big difference in this process or should I spend my money on another pre amp or a mic instead??? By the Way, if I didn't have you other slutz to help me though this mine field of gear I would have pulled my hair out by now. Thanks to all, sincerely!! |

Forget the KM184's. Too bright and sizzley. Pay the extra bucks and hunt down a pair of KM84's instead. If they are for Drum Overheads / Room mics, I'd opt for Coles 4038's.
