Hi Gearslutz People Would you like to post photos jpegs of the inside & outside of your U47 and U67 including power supply. It’s just that i am amazed by these old Mics and the fact that they are still used and sound incredible. I you have any comments on how to improve the sound of the Mics that would be great as well. Any other useful comments would be good. Cheers. |

Here are some photos of my Neumann M49 clone. It was built by Sanken as a prototype in '59 and rebuilt by a mic tech in Japan more recently with the vintage electronics, an early 60s Neumann M7 capsule and Telefunken 701K tube. There are some photos of it assembled up on my web site. (If it looks like it's on someone's workbench that's because it was--these are the photos I got from the guy I bought it from.) From what I understand it is one of 20 prototypes Sanken made in 1959 and is documented in Japanese-issued NHK Microphone Handbook (Issue 2) that I guess is quite hard to find. (If you have one, please let me know). This goes beyond my mic knowledge but the guy I got it from also said it has a choke trasformer in the PSU and a tube regulator "like the early NN48B Neumann". It sounds great. Eben ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
